We live in a distracted age.  With all the digital devices constantly pulling our attention away from the task at hand, no wonder we have so many kids diagnosed with ADD, ADHD etc.  Karate is often prescribed for children with these conditions, but Adults find also find the benefits of increased focus and stress reduction.  There have been studies done showing learning patterns, like we do in Karate, aids the distracted brain.

The key to focus is simply to pick something to focus on and have a reward and a consequence for paying attention or not paying attention. It  only stands to reason, when the stakes are higher for lack of focus (getting bopped:)), then students will pay more attention. The instructor is regularly guiding the students eyes, mind, and body to focus on the lesson.  If focus is your goal, you can’t beat Karate.
