The emphasis of our Karate Kids Karate Classes, for ages 7-12, is on all the benefits of martial arts including Respect, Courtesy, Self Confidence, Physical Fitness, Goal Setting and so much more. The program builds confidence and character by providing you or your child with control over his or her body and an ability to stand up to peer pressure and other intimidating situations. The movements of karate develop coordination, increase strength and improve flexibility.
The awarding of the higher levels of karate belts gives your child a sense of achievement and accomplishment that is tangible. Training for these evaluations and passing them enhances the students ability to concentrate, plan, and triumph over learning hurdles as they learn to set and reach their goals. This is an excellent reinforcement of study habits for school.
The foundation of karate is its self-defense value. We are very careful to teach adults and children that karate is not to be used outside the karate class in any manner other than in true self-defense. The result is a Self-Confident individual, who does not need to bully or show-off to others. All our students learn the importance of Black Belt Excellence, a metaphor for developing strong character.

What Do Parents Say About Our Karate Kids Karate Classes?
Karate at the Academy of Traditional Karate has become part of our family life for over four years. It’s unlike any other activity we have ever been involved with. Our daughters, Callie and Tess are both involved in the Youth Program. They often comment on how it feels like a family and how everyone knows their name and genuinely cares about their success. There have been so many little details that make a world of difference (personal notes sent home on a breakthrough moment, instructors pulling us aside to make us aware of super work ethic, etc). We are proud to be part of a school that takes such pride in how their program is run on a daily basis.
The instructors are highly respected and it’s evident how much they personally put in. Renshi Goddard’s impact on our kids significantly complements our parenting efforts (also, a great secret weapon when needed). Growing up in today’s society can be tough – but karate has certainly provided a healthy framework for growth, confidence, respect, strength and discipline. Is there anything better having your children feel really good about themselves? Soon, we will have three daughters in this program!
