August Character Theme: Black Belt Image
Week 1
THE GOAL: The goal of this week’s lesson is to teach our students what self-image is and how our self-image effects how we feel about ourselves and how we perform.
WHAT WE’LL TEACH: We will teach students about what “Self Image” is. It’s the way you picture yourself in your mind. Why is that important? Because if you want to become a Black Belt, you need to believe you can do it. If you don’t see yourself as someone who can be successful, you probably won’t be.
Week 2
THE GOAL: The goal of this week’s lesson is to teach our students how not developing a positive self-image will have a negative effect on their lives.
WHAT WE’LL TEACH: We will teach students why a lot of people have a poor or negative self image. It’s because negatively surrounds us in life. People constantly compare themselves to others. The media is filled with negative images. To be successful, first students must learn to stop criticizing others. Secondly, students need to guard their self image and stay away from people who criticize them.
Week 3

WHAT WE’LL TEACH: We will teach students that the way they see themselves determines how much of our abilities we use and how successful we will become. By developing a positve self image, you can reach goals that you weren’t sure were possible.
Week 4
THE GOAL: The goal of this week’s lesson is to teach our students that if they think they can or they think they can’t – they’re right!
WHAT WE’LL TEACH: We will teach students that if you believe you can do something, you’ll find a way to get it done. If you believe you can’t do it, you’ll talk yourself out of trying, even if you have the ability to do it. If you think positively and believe in yourself, you can find a way to use the best of your ability to do the best you can.
