July Character Theme: Character
Week 1
THE GOAL: The goal of this week’s lesson is to teach students what character is.
WHAT WE’LL TEACH: We will teach students that character is the attitudes and behavior that someone lives their lives by. It’s not how you look or where you come from but how are on the inside.
Week 2
THE GOAL: The goal of this week’s lesson is to teach students that they can become successful by modeling behavior after other successful people.
WHAT WE’LL TEACH: We will teach students that our character determines our success. If we model our behavior after other successful people, we can follow in their successful footsteps.
Week 3
THE GOAL: The goal of this week’s lesson is to teach students that character is the foundation on which our successful life is built.
WHAT WE’LL TEACH: We will teach students that like any tall building, the foundation is what keeps it supported. When someone’s character is weak, they may be able to achieve some success in life but it always comes crashing down (much like a building with a weak foundation).
Week 4
THE GOAL: The goal of this week’s lesson is to teach students how to develop the qualities of a successful person.
WHAT WE’LL TEACH: We will teach students that people aren’t born into success. People can be born into wealth and privilege but if their character isn’t strong, they generally don’t make it on their own. Character learned not inherited. So to become a person of strong character, you need to practice strong character.
