GET THE FREE GUIDEA Simple Guide for Important Conversations
Bullying situations are not always easy for kids to recognize or respond to. The Bully-Smart Challenge gives parents and children a fun, age-appropriate way to talk through what bullying can look like and what kids can do about it.
Recognize Bullying
Help kids understand what bullying is and how it can be different from an everyday disagreement.
Understand Different Forms
Explore physical, verbal, and other ways bullying can affect another child.
Know When to Tell
Talk about the difference between reporting a problem and simply trying to get someone in trouble.
Be a Helpful Bystander
Show kids that the people watching a situation can play an important role in helping someone who is being bullied.
Practice What to Do
Work through different strategies children can consider when they find themselves in a difficult situation.
Take the Challenge
Finish with activities and questions that help kids put what they learned into practice.
Don’t Just Hand It to Them. Do It Together.
Some of the most valuable parts of the Bully-Smart Challenge are the conversations it can start.
The guide gives kids activities, examples, and situations to think through, while giving parents an easy way to ask questions and hear how their child might respond.
Ask: “What would you do?”
Ask: “Who would you tell?”
Ask: “How could you help someone else?”
The goal isn’t simply to finish the booklet. It’s to help kids think through these situations before they ever have to face one.
