The Academy of Traditional Karate teaches the classical Okinawan Style of Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu karate. The Academy offers a wide variety of fun karate classes for all ages with a wholistic focus on all the benefits of martial arts including personal development, better health, physical fitness, stress reduction, and of course self-defense. Karate classes generally run one hour (less for younger students), and are run in a traditional fashion. Students wear a white "gi" (karate uniform) and will learn about Japanese culture and some Japanese terms. Our karate classes focus on the three areas of traditional karate-do: kihon (basics), kata (forms) and kumite (sparring) along with a strong character development program.
